The Reason why Josh Hamilton should be the 2010 AL MVP

The baseball season is set to conclude on October 3rd, 2010 and there has been a lot of debate over the last month about who should win the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
In all likely hood the award is going to come down to either New York Yankees Second Basemen Robinson Cano, Detroit Tigers First Basemen Miguel Cabrera, Toronto Bluejays Right Fielder Jose Bautista or Texas Rangers Center fielder Josh Hamilton.
I personally think Josh Hamilton is going to win the award for a number of reasons. Although Hamilton has played just 3 games in the month of September this season he still managed to have outstanding numbers. He lead the American league in hitting with a 359 average with well over 500 at bats, he finished with 31 home runs, 97 RBIs, a 412 On Base Percentage, and a slugging percentage of 631. Hamilton's most impressive statistic is that he managed a 400 average in a three month span beginning from June until the end of August, so during that three month period he was clearly the best player not only in the American League but in the whole sport this season. Also a big part of Josh Hamilton's game that is very underrated is his defense in the outfield he played both left field and center fielder for the Texas Rangers this season. He also managed 9 outfield assists and made some outstanding plays crashing into walls and sacrificing his body while doing so.
Hamilton was pretty much a lock to win the award until he got hurt, but I think he did more then enough to still win the AL MVP. I don't think the Texas Rangers are the same team without Hamilton in the lineup. Hamilton is clearly there most valuable player. Hopefully the writers get this award right and vote for Josh Hamilton for the AL MVP because he certainly deserves it.
